ORGANIZATION & LEADERSHIP of BPAUX

The Border Patrol Auxiliary will have members in all 50 states. Membership is open to men and women, 18 years or older, U.S. citizens of all states and territories, civilians, current and retired law enforcement or active duty or former members of any of the uniformed services and their Reserve components and who have passed a rigorous background check, both criminal and personal. Although under the authority of the National leadership, the Border Patrol Auxiliary is internally autonomous, operating on three organizational levels: Sector, Districts, and National.

Sector - The Sector is the basic organizational unit of the BP Auxiliary and is comprised of at least 25 qualified members who carry out Auxiliary program activities. Every Auxiliarist is a member of a local sector. A Sector Chief (SC) heads each Sector.

District - Sectors are organized in Districts comparable to the Districts and must be assigned the same district number. The District provides administrative and supervisory support to and promotes policies of both the District Chief and National Executive Committee.

National - The BP Auxiliary has national officers who are responsible for the administration and policy-making for the entire Auxiliary. These officers comprise the National Executive Committee  that is composed of the National Chief of BP Auxiliary and the National Executive Committee.

The National Staff make up the BP Auxiliary Headquarters organization. The Chief Director is a senior officer and directs the administration of the BP Auxiliary on policies established by the National Chief and the National Executive Committee.

The Border Patrol Auxiliary is a private sector group that acts like neighborhood watch groups around the country. The BP Auxiliary has been created by a group of private citizens who’s concern is to assist the federal Border Patrol districts with issues that revolve around human smuggling and drug smuggling and is administered by the National Chief of the Border Patrol Auxiliary. It is an organization of paid and unpaid, volunteer U. S. citizens, members, which, as specifically authorized by the Chief, assists in carrying out the goals and objectives of the Border Patrol Auxiliary civil functions. An organization of elected, appointed officers has been prescribed by the Chief to more effectively plan, coordinate, and carry out the functions of the Auxiliary.
